Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who can also be a presidential aspirant below the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), has mentioned the grotesque killing of Deborah Samuel, a second-year pupil of Shehu Shagari Faculty of Schooling, Sokoto State, for alleged blasphemy is deeply distressing.
Osinbajo mentioned this whereas talking with newsmen after he arrived in Abuja from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Friday on the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Worldwide Airport, Abuja.
The Vice President praised the Sultan of Sokoto for condemning the incident.
He mentioned, “Let me say that, first, the president has reacted to this, in an announcement which was issued earlier condemning the motion.
“I have to say that it’s a deeply distressing factor, very disturbing – such an atrocious killing of the younger girl by a mob who took the regulation into their very own fingers; I believe it’s very unlucky.
“The swift response of the Sokoto State Authorities and in addition the Sultan of Sokoto is extremely commendable. I believe that their swift response to the state of affairs demonstrates the outrage of thousands and thousands of Nigerians and in addition the need of everybody to make sure that the perpetrators are rapidly apprehended and prosecuted.”
