Governor Ganduje’s faction of the Kano APC has emerged victorious in the party’s crises as the Supreme Court on Friday struck out the appeal filed by the Ibrahim Shekarau-led faction challenging the legality of the state party leadership of Abdullahi Abbas.

In the court’s judgment on Friday, the five-member panel of justices in their submission read by Justice Inyang Okoro unanimously held that the appeal against the earlier judgments of the Court of Appeal in Abuja lacked merit and is dismissed.

The court further ruled that the two other appeals in the matter will abide by the decision.

The Court of Appeal had in February dismissed the three appeals and also held that the originating summons was wrongly commenced in Abuja, adding that the matter was an internal affair of the party.

The appeals followed the two rulings of an FCT High Court in 2021 which upheld the parallel ward and local government congresses conducted by the faction loyal to Shekarau.
