Suspected Fulani herdsmen have reportedly killed a younger man in Okpulugwu Agu-Amede group in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Native Authorities Space of Enugu State in a renewed assault.
The incident, SaharaReporters learnt, had thrown the group into mourning.
Group sources instructed SaharaReporters that the latest incident which occurred on Friday can be the seventh brutal assault on the agrarian group since January 2022.
It was gathered that the sufferer, Mr Ejike Odo, had bought a report that his sister who went to farm was attacked and being raped by Fulani herdsmen whereas she was coming back from farm, and he rushed to the farm to rescue her.
“Sadly, the herdsmen who had been about 4 overpowered him, stabbed a number of instances earlier than slitting his throat,” a group chief who gave his title as Justus Nwonye mentioned.
Eha-Amufu communities share boundaries with Benue State and have had a number of herdsmen assaults since August 2021 leading to a number of killings and sacking of eight farm settlements.
Efforts to get response from the Enugu State Police Command had been unsuccessful because the spokesman, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, couldn’t be reached on cellphone.
